One of the ways in which I’ve been removing the ceiling on my students is by asking them to engage in mathematical writing assignments. Below, I’ve uploaded some student writing samples, a brief writing prompt which includes criteria for assessing student work, and a powerpoint presentation from my 2017 presentation at the National Association for Gifted Children.

Note that my teaching practices around these writing assignments are still very much a work in progress–I’d love to hear feedback from other educators about how I might improve!
